Working in close collaboration with Feldman Architecture, we updated this 1905 Edwardian home with modern and sustainable features. We excavated the basement to increase the ceiling height, redesigned the back of the home to allow for indoor-outdoor living from the kitchen and family room, and converted the attic space to a home office, complete with a new dormer. Utilizing sustainable materials and features (including a heat-recovery ventilation system; a hydronic radiant-heating system; a rooftop photovoltaic system, along with a Savant home automation system to help monitor the home’s energy capture and usage; and a gray-water collection system), earned this home a LEED-Platinum certification, proving older homes can be green.
