Upcoming Events You Won’t Want to Miss!

This weekend is chock full of design-related events and we want to help spread the news!

First up is the 4th annual San Francisco edition of the stARTup Art Fair. This immersive, contemporary art experience showcases artwork by a diverse group of independent artists, local art nonprofits, artist performances, installations and panel discussions. The 3-day Fair kicks off Friday, April 27 and runs through Sunday, April 29, at the Hotel Del Sol. Check out the stARTup website to purchase tickets and for more information, including a list of participating artists and scheduled talks and performances.

The 41st Annual San Francisco Decorator Showcase is also opening this weekend. The Showcase features the works of the region’s top interior and landscape designers and is widely considered to be the West Coast’s premier design event. All of the proceeds from the month-long event go directly to support the San Francisco University High School Financial Aid Program. The Showcase has raised nearly $16 million to date, allowing hundreds of students access to a world-class college prep education.

This year’s home is at 465 Marina Boulevard and marks the first time a Showcase home has been in the historic Marina District. Directly across the street from the Marina Green and the San Francisco Bay, the home features six bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a sunken living room, formal dining room, gourmet kitchen, guest suite and more. The front of the home has large picture windows that capture the stunning views of the Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz. We cannot wait to see how our designer friends have transformed this home. (Here’s a sneak peek of the façade of the Showcase home. We love this fun, fresh design by artist A. J. Oishi and Simon Breitbard Fine Arts!)

Tickets are still available for Friday’s Opening Night Party, which gives partygoers the opportunity to preview the home and meet the designers while enjoying wine and delicious appetizers. The Showcase opens Saturday, April 28 and runs through Monday, May 28—check their website for hours, tickets, and special events that they host throughout the month.

We’d also like to thank the awesome folks at stARTup Art Fair for generously coordinating a convenient transportation solution for those who want to visit their event, the Decorator Showcase, and the If So, What? fair that are all taking place in the Marina District this weekend. stARTup is providing a free shuttle service running from the Hotel Del Sol to If So, What? at the Palace of Fine Arts and the Decorator Showcase. Check out the stARTup Art Fair Instagram feed for more information and live updates.

And last, but certainly not least, we’re excited to announce that Jennifer Tulley, of Jennifer Tulley Architects, and Jeff will be hosting a discussion for San Francisco Design Week on Tuesday, June 12 @ 10:30 a.m. Please join us for coffee & pastries as Jennifer and Jeff discuss the trends in “resimercial” design, an innovative approach to commercial building that blurs the lines between residential and commercial projects. Our event will be held in the offices of a recent client so attendees may see the results of the architect/builder collaboration first hand.

SF Design Week is a week-long regional festival that showcases the intersection of ideas, design, business, and entrepreneurism of the Bay Area. Check out their Events page for a list of all of the various goings on and for tickets (tickets go on sale Tuesday, May 1 @ 9:30 a.m. and ticket sales are limited to ensure an optimal guest experience).

We hope to see you at one or all of these events!
